Is there any code planned to work w/ ArcSDE, its APIs, or w/ ArcSDE SDEBinary data format. I'm familiar w/ Oracles Spatial Cartridge & SDO format, and was hoping to find similiar functionality in SQLServer

What do you mean by "Work with ArcSDE"? To me, ArcSDE and MsSqlSpatial is just two different ways of having a database support geometry and do spatial queries on them (OK ArcSDE is a lot more in some cases, and a lot less in others but still...).
Furthermore what kind of "functionality" are you seeking in SDO and SDEBinary that WKB doesn't have? It's just a format for storing the geometry as binary and nothing more, and you need a client API to access and edit the data. With MsSqlSpatial, everything can be accomplished in pure SQL, and you can therefore use any MsSql data provider to access it.
